Rich with the sounds and textures of home movies and music, дом is a meditative portrait of a young man as he reflects on his concept of home, family, and belonging. As a Russian expatriate, his situation is increasingly complicated by political and global uncertainties, feelings of disconnection from his home country, and searching for a sense of home.
Participant
Sergei grew up in St. Petersburg, Russia surrounded by a loving family. He attended Second St. Petersburg Gymnasium, choosing a curriculum focused on physics and math, while being classically trained as a pianist for over seven years. Sergei moved to the United States at age 17 and received his Bachelor’s Degrees in Physics and Mathematics from Purdue University. He is currently a Ph.D. student at the University of Chicago researching theoretical condensed matter physics.
Sergei has been unable to visit his home country and family for over two and a half years and misses them deeply.
